Danantara Already Holds Shares in Ride-Hailing App Company
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that the government, through Danantara, has now entered as a shareholder in an online transportation application (ride-hailing/ojol) company.
According to Dasco, this step serves as an entry point for the government to help drive improvements in the industry ecosystem, including ensuring policies that are more favourable to drivers.
“The government through Danantara has entered the applicator, taking a share of the stock. With that position, there is certainly room to push for better policies,” he said during a meeting with Labour Day rally participants at the DPR Building on Friday (1/5/2026).
In line with this, the DPR together with the government is also discussing adjustments to the revenue-sharing scheme between the applicator and drivers. One key point that has emerged is the plan to reduce the cut taken by the applicator.
“Because this concerns the overall system, the initial step being discussed is how to lower the portion taken by the applicator. From previously 10% to 20%, it is directed to become around 8%,” he explained.
Nevertheless, he emphasised that the scheme is still in the simulation and further study stage, taking into account business sustainability as well as the welfare of driver partners.
In addition, discussions regarding the employment status of ride-hailing drivers are still ongoing. To date, there has been no final decision on whether drivers will be categorised as formal workers or remain as partners.
“Whether they will become workers or remain partners, that is still being simulated,” said Dasco.
He affirmed that in the policy formulation process, the government will continue to involve organisations and communities of ride-hailing drivers so that the decisions taken are not unilateral.
“The organisations of our ride-hailing friends will be invited to discuss and deliberate, so that the policies produced truly match the conditions on the ground,” he concluded.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. One important point in the regulation is the income distribution between the applicator and drivers.
“I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. As I mentioned earlier, they must be given work accident guarantees, will be given BPJS Health, health insurance,” said Prabowo.
