Danantara Acquires Stake in Online Ojek Application Company - Investor Daily
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that the Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) has purchased a portion of shares in an online ojek application company. According to Dasco, one of the government’s objectives in acquiring part of the stake in the ojek application is to lower the commission deduction imposed on ojek drivers to 8% from the previous 20%. Dasco said that the policy system will be adjusted gradually and will involve discussions with relevant organisations. “The government, through Danantara, is involved in this process to ensure that all parties, including online drivers, receive proper attention. Simulations regarding the effectiveness of this system are still in the development stage, and communication with partners will continue to gather constructive input and suggestions,” Dasco explained while receiving an audience from labour unions on the occasion of International Labour Day (May Day) 2026 at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026). Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026 to cut the income deduction taken by application companies from online ojek drivers to eight percent. This policy was taken to defend the rights of ojek drivers who work hard every day and risk their lives on the roads. According to him, the revenue-sharing scheme that has been in place so far still does not provide justice for the drivers. The President mentioned that applications previously deducted 20% from drivers’ income. Through this new regulation, the government sets a much lower new standard to increase the net income of online transportation workers. “It’s too easy, you sweat and they get the money, sorry about that. If you don’t want to join us, don’t do business in Indonesia,” President Prabowo firmly stated in front of thousands of workers.
