Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) has already purchased shares in several ride-hailing (ojol) applications. This acquisition is intended, among other things, to reduce the commission cuts imposed on ojol drivers from 10-20 percent to eight percent.

With the government taking partial stakes in these ojol applications, he said, the systems and policies of the applications will be gradually and steadily adjusted. However, the primary focus, he emphasised, is on reducing the commission rate.

“The first and foremost is to lower the fees taken by the applications. Previously 20 or 10 percent, now the applications will only take eight percent from the collections,” Dasco said while receiving an audience from a labour union alliance at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Friday, 1 May 2026.

Meanwhile, regarding discussions on the employment relationship status between ojol drivers and their partners, Dasco mentioned that it is still being simulated. However, he assured that ojol driver organisations will be involved in determining those policies.

“The organisations of our ojol friends will still be consulted and involved in deliberations,” he said.

According to him, President Prabowo Subianto has conveyed that if there are companies facing difficulties, they will be assisted or even taken over by the government. This is done to ensure that workers can continue working and have a place of employment.

Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 to cut the income deductions taken by application companies from online motorcycle taxi drivers to eight percent.

“I say here, I do not agree with 10 percent; it must be below 10 percent,” President Prabowo stated in his speech at the International Labour Day commemoration at the National Monument in Jakarta on Friday.

The President emphasised that this policy is taken to defend the rights of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers who work hard every day and risk their lives on the roads. According to him, the current profit-sharing scheme still does not provide justice for the drivers.
