JAKARTA — DAMRI is stepping up efforts to provide cross-border bus services (ALBN). Ten new buses have been launched for the ALBN service, which connects Indonesian cities with international territories via official routes. The most popular route spans three countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Specifically, the service connects Pontianak in Indonesia to Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei Darussalam, enhancing land transport connectivity across Southeast Asia.

Arifin, DAMRI’s Director of Technical and Facilities, said: ‘The collaboration between DAMRI, Hino, and Karoseri Piala Mas has introduced a cross-border fleet that prioritises comfort and safety while showcasing Indonesian craftsmanship on the international stage.’

The ten new buses feature Rexus 8S bodywork, a recent innovation from Karoseri Piala Mas. The ‘8’ denotes a height of 3.8 metres, while the ‘S’ indicates a single-glazed front windshield. Inside the cabin, passenger seats are arranged in a 2-1 configuration, with all seats featuring reclining capabilities and leg rests.

The chassis is the Hino Bus RM 280 ABS, known for its robust engine performance, ABS braking system for enhanced safety, and operational efficiency supporting transport operators’ business sustainability.

Anton Nugroho, GMB Division Head at HMSI, thanked DAMRI for its trust in supporting public transport services in Indonesia. ‘With these new units, Hino reaffirms its role not only as a commercial vehicle provider but also as a strategic partner for transport operators in supporting the mobility of Indonesia’s citizens,’ he added.
