The Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, has announced the designation of three former leaders of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as suspects. The suspects are linked to alleged corruption involving the mark-up of procurement projects for various goods, including electric motorbikes, shoes, and tablets.

The three former BGN officials are former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and two former Deputy Heads, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung.

“The procurement included 21,801 units of electric motorbikes with a total value of approximately Rp1 trillion, the procurement of 32,000 pairs of shoes that did not comply with regulations and involved mark-ups, the procurement of over 31,000 tablets that were non-compliant and marked up, and the procurement of 5,400 units of 75-inch televisions that were non-compliant and marked up,” Syarief stated during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office building.

The Attorney General’s Office issued an investigation order (sprindik) regarding the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at the BGN on 29 May. A few days later, the Attorney General’s Office conducted searches at several locations, including the BGN office in Jakarta, from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.

During the searches, the Attorney General’s Office seized various pieces of evidence. Authorities also brought Dadan, Lodewyk, and Sony in for questioning. Following the examination process, all three were officially named suspects and immediately detained. The suspects will be held at the Salemba Detention Centre for the next 20 days.

Syariief noted that the state has suffered losses due to the alleged mark-ups in these procurement projects. The suspects are alleged to have violated Articles 603 and 604 in conjunction with Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP).
