Cycling on Jl. Sudirman

The other evening I was surprised to see two people cycling
down Jl. Jend. Sudirman in the dark without lights.

Given the volume of traffic along this major thoroughfare
allowing cyclists to make use of this road is in my view
dangerous. Although not officially a motorway in some senses Jl.
Jend. Sudirman could be considered so and therefore it makes
sense to prohibit cyclists. This would be simple to implement and
cost very little except for a few signs.

I appreciate that it can be difficult to control errant
behavior of this kind without a huge police presence; however
there are things that can be done short of this which would help.
In particular a thoughtful advertising campaign could be
initiated. Also stiffer fines could be imposed. Even if only one
life is saved surely it is worth doing.
