Alfian, a student in the Digital Business programme at Cyber University or Indonesia’s Cyber University, has obtained a certification in appraising gold collateral from PT Pegadaian. This intensive training took place at Wisma Hijau, Cimanggis, Depok, from 13-25 April 2026. The step is part of the campus’s efforts to strengthen students’ practical competencies in the financial sector. During the training, participants were equipped with gold appraisal techniques, evaluation standards, and risk management. Alfian, who is also a Pegadaian UPC Agent at Pasar Baru, participated in hands-on practice in identifying and analysing the quality of precious metals. The activity aims to bridge classroom theory with professional needs in the field. Alfian revealed that this experience provided new insights into professional standards in the financial services sector. According to him, a deep understanding of pawn services is very important for his future career. “This training has opened my eyes to professional standards in the world of gold appraisal. There is a lot of practical knowledge that is highly relevant to current industry developments,” said Alfian in a written statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026). The Head of the Digital Business programme at Cyber University, Vivi Afifah, gave high appreciation for her student’s success. She emphasised that the current job market demands graduates who possess professional certifications in addition to business concept understanding. “We greatly appreciate students who are active in enhancing their competencies through industry certifications. Graduates must have practical experience and readiness to face the transformation of the digital financial industry,” stated Vivi. Vivi added that the programme will continue to encourage students to engage in training programmes and industry experiences from an early stage. This is done to strengthen career readiness for students before they fully enter the workforce. “At Cyber University, we have the Company Learning Program (CLP) 3+1. Students study for only 3 years and spend 1 year interning in industry. Therefore, it is no surprise that Cyber University graduates are quickly absorbed into the job market,” she explained. She also hopes that this success can motivate other students to integrate technology skills with modern financial services. The synergy between formal education and professional certifications is the main key to facing Indonesia’s continuously developing digital economic ecosystem.
