Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Directorate General of Customs at the Ministry of Finance, together with the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), conducted a large-scale operation against a network manufacturing illegal excise stamps in Central Java. In simultaneous operations in Jepara and Semarang, the estimated potential losses prevented amounted to around Rp570 billion.

According to an official release from the Directorate General of Customs, in Jepara Regency, the team raided five locations used as storage and adhesion sites for holograms, spread across Mayong, Batealit, and Pecangaan districts.

From these locations, officers seized 71 bundles of suspected fake excise stamps, 3 bundles of suspected fake stamps not yet affixed with holograms, and 2 foil stamping machines.

Meanwhile, in Semarang city, the raids were conducted at three building sites and boarding rooms in the Gunungpati district that served as a printing hub.

The officers seized 2 printing machines (model OLIVER 66 EZ and OLIVER 258 E2Z), printing plates for the excise stamps, 1 paper cutting machine, 22 rolls of hologram sticker paper, and 1 folder of orders for suspected fake excise stamps.

In addition to securing the evidence, authorities also detained parties involved for further investigation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

In Jepara, 15 people were detained who were applying holograms, while in Semarang four people were detained (1 printing controller, 2 workers, and 1 driver) along with 1 Innova Zenix vehicle. The seized goods and 19 individuals questioned have been taken to the Regional Office of Customs for Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta for further examination.

Djaka Budhi Utama, Director General of Customs, stated that based on calculations of the total amount of fake excise stamps seized across the two areas, the enforcement operation successfully saved potential state losses with an estimated value of Rp570 billion.

“This enforcement action is a reflection of Customs’ commitment to safeguarding state revenue, creating a healthy business climate, and protecting the public from illegal excise goods,” Djaka said in an official release, quoted on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

Djaka added that the success of supervision and enforcement is inseparable from inter-agency synergy and active public participation.

“We invite the public to continue to be Customs partners in monitoring by reporting indications of illegal goods circulation in their surroundings via official complaints channels,” he said.
