The Directorate General of Customs and Excise reported that state budget performance through the end of January 2026 remained stable amid global economic dynamics. National revenue realisation stood at Rp 172.7 trillion or 5.5 per cent of the state budget target, higher than the corresponding period in 2025.

The Head of the Customs and Excise Public Relations and Extension Subdirectorate, Budi Prasetiyo, stated that customs and excise sector revenues in that period reached Rp 22.6 trillion or 6.7 per cent of the state budget target. “This achievement still experienced a contraction of 14 per cent year-on-year,” he said in an official statement on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

He disclosed that import duty revenues totalled Rp 3.7 trillion or 7.4 per cent of the state budget target, although contracting 4.4 per cent year-on-year. This condition was influenced by increased imports with zero per cent most favoured nation (MFN) tariff rates, utilisation of free trade agreement (FTA) facilities, and restitution claims.

Meanwhile, export duty revenues reached Rp 1.4 trillion or 3.4 per cent of the state budget target. This realisation was depressed by 41.6 per cent due to falling crude palm oil (CPO) prices.

For excise revenue, realisation reached Rp 17.5 trillion or 7.2 per cent of the state budget target. This figure experienced a contraction of 12.4 per cent, influenced by production declines in late 2025.

Beyond revenue collection functions, Customs and Excise strengthened surveillance of illegal goods circulation. Through January 2026, the agency undertook 1,243 illegal cigarette enforcement actions and 95 narcotics enforcement operations.

From these enforcement actions, Customs and Excise seized approximately 249 million illegal cigarette sticks and approximately 0.21 tonnes of narcotics evidence. The quantity of seized illegal cigarettes increased 295.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. Whilst narcotics evidence increased 111.7 per cent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, government expenditure totalled Rp 227.3 trillion. With that realisation, the state budget deficit reached Rp 54.6 trillion or equivalent to 0.21 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP).

Amid global challenges, he said Indonesian economic resilience remained evident. Various economic indicators moved positively, such as inflation remaining under control, continued trade surplus, and sustained foreign capital inflows into the domestic market. Consumer consumption indicators such as retail sales and motor vehicle sales also continued to grow, reflecting maintained consumer purchasing power.

From the national revenue side, tax performance through January 2026 reached Rp 138.9 trillion or 5.2 per cent of the state budget target. Non-tax state revenue (PNBP) totalled Rp 33.9 trillion or 7.4 per cent of the state budget target.
