Customs and Excise Recruitment Accelerated, High School Graduates Prioritised for Operational Roles
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is accelerating the opening of job vacancies for employees at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) for high school graduates or equivalent to meet operational manpower needs in the field. He stated that the recruitment acceleration is being carried out in line with the high interest from applicants and the need for human resources to support operational performance.
“We are accelerating it,” said the Finance Minister after attending a debottlenecking session in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026).
When asked about the implementation timeline for the recruitment, Purbaya mentioned that it would likely occur soon.
“It seems like this month,” he said.
However, he added that he would still check the exact schedule for the opening. According to him, the recruitment plan has actually been in discussion for a long time but has not yet been realised.
“I’ll check again later. The proposal has been around for a long time, but it hasn’t been executed yet,” he said.
Purbaya explained that this recruitment is not entirely the same as the acceptance of civil servant candidates (CPNS). The positions being opened are more focused on field technical staff.
“This is Customs and Excise recruitment designed for field needs. While CPNS is generally for managerial levels, in the field we are still short of staff, so we need to build operational strength from high school graduates,” he stated.
He emphasised that the need for field staff is important to improve the effectiveness of supervision and services in the customs sector.
Previously, the State Treasurer had conveyed plans to open around 300 job vacancies at DJBC for high school graduates or equivalent.
