Cross-Border Cultural Event in Jakarta Showcases Art Exchange and Community Interaction
Community-based cultural activities are increasingly held in major cities as a space for international interaction. Such events are not only venues for artistic performances but are also being used to introduce traditions, bring communities together, and open spaces for cross-cultural discussions.
Amid growing public interest in international cultural events, community initiatives are now adopting more diverse concepts by involving artists, SMEs, and representatives from various countries. The activities showcased go beyond entertainment, highlighting cultural exchange through art, cuisine, and social interaction.
For instance, the ASEAN-India Bazaar 2026 held at The Westin Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in South Jakarta on Saturday, 23 May 2026, brought together cultural elements from India and ASEAN nations in a full-day programme.
Organised by Indoindians in collaboration with the India Mission to ASEAN, the event featured various arts, cultural programmes, and community bazaars. Thousands of visitors filled the venue from morning until evening.
Attendees could view art exhibitions, handicraft products, and cultural performances from multiple countries. Beyond being a hub for international communities, the event also provided a space for the general public to engage more closely with other cultures.
A notable highlight was the art panel exhibition showcasing works from artists of diverse cultural backgrounds. Additionally, meditation sessions and book discussions attracted attendees from various walks of life.
On the entertainment stage, traditional and modern artistic performances took place, including Thai dance, Bharatanatyam from India, Indian vocal duets, and contemporary music acts throughout the day.
Beyond artistic displays, the event hosted over 150 exhibitors from the creative economy sector, featuring products such as fashion, handicrafts, accessories, and fitness items from India, Indonesia, and several ASEAN countries.
