Croda opens chemical complex

SINGAPORE (AFP): The Singapore unit of Britain's Croda
International Plc. opened here on Tuesday a S$450 million
(US$29.4 million) chemicals complex.

It is the largest single investment by Croda, the world's
leading manufacturer of lanolin, an important ingredient in the
personal care products industry, officials said.

"Our new plant incorporates state-of-the-art technology,
combining new, improved production processes with the latest
computerized control systems," the chairman of Croda
International, Keith Hopkins, said at the opening ceremony.

The new complex of Croda Singapore Pte. Ltd., situated on
Singapore's petrochemical hub of Jurong Island, is capable of
producing 15,000 tons per year each of speciality esters and
speciality alkoxylates to meet the growing demand in the Asia
Pacific region, officials said.
