Croda opens chemical complex
SINGAPORE (AFP): The Singapore unit of Britain's Croda International Plc. opened here on Tuesday a S$450 million (US$29.4 million) chemicals complex.
It is the largest single investment by Croda, the world's leading manufacturer of lanolin, an important ingredient in the personal care products industry, officials said.
"Our new plant incorporates state-of-the-art technology, combining new, improved production processes with the latest computerized control systems," the chairman of Croda International, Keith Hopkins, said at the opening ceremony.
The new complex of Croda Singapore Pte. Ltd., situated on Singapore's petrochemical hub of Jurong Island, is capable of producing 15,000 tons per year each of speciality esters and speciality alkoxylates to meet the growing demand in the Asia Pacific region, officials said.
