JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri) are examining a report of alleged sexual violence said to have been committed by a former head coach of athletes at the national climbing training centre (pelatnas) against several female athletes.

Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, Director of the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Trafficking in Persons (Dittipid PPA-PPO) at Bareskrim Polri, stated that the report was registered under case number LP/B/101/III/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri, dated 3 March 2026.

“Today we are presenting developments in the sexual violence case pursuant to police report number LP/B/101/III/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 3 March 2026, with the modus operandi alleged to involve abuse of authority and exploitation of the vulnerability or circumstances of female athletes to commit indecent acts and sexual intercourse,” Nurul stated on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

The locations of the alleged incidents include the Athletes’ Residence in Bekasi, at Harapan Indah Boulevard No. 10-12, Medan Satria, North Bekasi, and various countries where the athletes participated in international competitions.

The report was filed by the complainant, identified as SD, acting as legal representative of the victims, who are female athletes from the national climbing training centre. The respondent, identified as HB, is a former head coach of athletes at the national climbing training centre who has been dismissed by the Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI).

On 6 March 2026, investigators conducted clarifications with complainant SD and one athlete identified as PJ. Investigators also accompanied the victim for a medical examination at Polri Kramat Jati Hospital.

Subsequently, on 9 March 2026, investigators conducted further clarifications with four other athletes identified as RS, PL, KA, NA, and AV.

According to Nurul, the victims did not receive support from the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Women and Child Protection (UPTD PPA) as they have already received psychological and legal assistance from FPTI.

In the investigation process, investigators have also secured initial evidence, including a report of alleged sexual harassment from FPTI dated 14 February 2026, a decision by the Central Board of FPTI concerning the national training centre for 2025, identity documents, and WhatsApp conversations between the female athletes and the respondent.
