Crimes on Jl. Sutoyo

Much has been written in the media about the crimes taking place along Jl. Letjen Sutoyo, particularly in front of Indonesia Christian University (UKI). The crimes involve hold-ups and purse snatchings to murder and rape. On top of all this, the traffic is always chaotic. This is partly caused by the people who prefer to cross the road directly instead of using the overpass.

Under such circumstances, it is not surprising that many accidents happen in that area. The people seem to be completely ignorant of the traffic signs and the police station nearby. I wonder why they do not impose sanctions on violators of traffic regulations and on those crossing the road without the overpass.

It is time the authorities enforced the law and took stern measures against violators, and the other criminals who lurk there.
