I have experienced two criminal incidents taking place only
about 100 meters from the Merdeka Palace gate, at the junction
between Jl. Merdeka Utara and Jl. Veteran II. It was about 6.30
a.m. when I stopped my car for a red light in August and two
young men approached my car, one on right side and the other on
the left. Each of them tried to pull off my car side mirror. But
as soon as the lights turned green I drove on quickly, leaving
the two men disappointed.

On Oct. 5, 1995, I heard a lot of noise to the left of my car.
Two criminals were busy disconnecting the side mirrors of a car
driven by a lady. Other drivers also watched the scene but did
nothing to stop the crime. What a pity!
