JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, or BTN, has restructured loans for disaster victims in the Sumatra region. The value of the restructuring amounts to around Rp 530 billion to Rp 550 billion. BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that the restructuring scheme provided to Sumatra disaster victims consists of payment relief for instalments over one year. “Approximately Rp 530-550 billion that we are restructuring in Sumatra, starting from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra,” he said during a press conference at Menara I BTN, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026). This is because at the initial stage of providing restructuring, field conditions were still difficult to access, making it challenging for the company to conduct a more detailed risk assessment. However, as time progresses, BTN has begun to observe differences in recovery rates across regions. Some areas, such as North Sumatra and West Sumatra, are assessed to be showing improvement, although not yet fully recovered. Meanwhile, conditions in several areas in Aceh, such as Pidie and Tamiang, remain relatively severe. Therefore, new credit risk possibilities will likely become apparent after the relaxation period ends and recovery conditions in the affected areas become clearer. “So, I think we can assess it closer to one year; we will recalculate which ones cannot be extended because they have recovered, which ones can continue, and which ones must default,” he said. BTN Director of Consumer Banking Hirwandi Gafar added that during the restructuring period, the company’s credit quality remains maintained. “Because we are restructuring, of course, during the restructuring period, the impact on quality can be well managed,” Hirwandi stated on the same occasion. Nevertheless, Hirwandi acknowledged that the speed of economic and infrastructure recovery in each area will greatly determine the debtors’ ability to resume fulfilling their credit obligations. “How is the recovery? Of course, this varies by area in terms of recovery speed. Aceh might be the most challenging. It requires sufficient time for them to complete and clean the infrastructure so that people’s business flows can run more smoothly. Also, the cleaning of their homes,” he explained. In providing credit restructuring for Sumatra disaster victims, this bank with the stock code BBTN refers to Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) No. 19 of 2022. The restructuring policy applies for a period of up to three years since it was established on 10 December 2025.
