The Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf) is currently mapping potential partnerships to support creative economy actors through infrastructure provision with various parties, including relevant ministries/agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

“We are currently in the stage of mapping partnership potential for infrastructure provision to support creative economy activities, whether with relevant ministries/agencies, the private sector, or other stakeholders,” said Fahmy Akmal, Director of Infrastructure Facilitation at the Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf).

Fahmy said digital infrastructure can be applied in creative regions across Indonesian regencies and cities to support creative economy potential from the grassroots level. “There are no minimum digital infrastructure requirements for regions, as creative economy potential is not solely digital-based but also rooted in culture, design, and media,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kemenekraf, in collaboration with local governments, continues to advance creative economy regions through initiatives such as the Indonesian Creative City and Regency Self-Assessment (PMK3I), the Creative City and Regency Indonesia (KaTa Kreatif Indonesia) designation, and the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

He explained that Kemenekraf facilitates the PMK3I, which originates from local government requests through a bottom-up planning method. This activity involves a self-assessment by the local creative economy hexahelix—comprising associations, businesses, communities, government, media, and financial institutions (ABCGMF)—to map regional creative economy potential and agree on subsectors that will drive local development.

Furthermore, the KaTa Kreatif Indonesia designation is a national recognition granted to local governments that consistently demonstrate commitment to developing the creative economy in their areas.

In 2025, six additional regencies/cities will receive the KaTa Kreatif Indonesia designation, bringing the total to 47. That year, Malang City and Ponorogo Regency will join the UCCN, following five previously designated cities: Pekalongan (2014), Bandung (2015), Ambon (2019), Jakarta (2021), and Surakarta (2023).
