Creative Economy Minister Discusses Collaboration in Monetising Local Creative Works
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, discussed opportunities for collaboration in efforts to monetise local creative works with representatives from the US Alumni Association.
During a meeting with the ALUMNAS delegation at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Monday (11/5), he stated that the government is striving to assist creative business actors in developing, becoming empowered, and self-reliant.
“Many young Indonesians have already produced creative IPs. The current challenge is how to monetise those IPs and develop them into sustainable creative economy products,” he said, as quoted in the ministry’s press release on Tuesday.
He emphasised the need for collaboration to enhance the capacities of business actors, expand market access, and develop intellectual property (IP) in efforts to monetise local creative works.
According to him, business subsectors such as film, design, publishing, animation, and souvenirs can be interconnected to increase added value and expand the market reach of local creative works.
“The eight Asta Ekraf sectors open up many collaboration opportunities. It just requires mapping which sectors are most potential for joint development,” he said.
Jimmy stated that some SMEs still require support in the form of curation facilitation, mentoring, and financing to develop their businesses.
As an organisation encompassing diverse professions, he said ALUMNAS is ready to support the implementation of business actor mentoring programmes, business forums, and young talent development in efforts to advance the national creative economy.
