Crazy Rich Grobogan Reveals Conditions for REI Investment in Lampung's New City
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Real Estate Indonesia (REI) has responded positively to the Lampung Provincial Government’s invitation to invest in the Bandar Negara New City (KBN) area.
In addition to seeing significant economic potential, developers also consider the local government’s open attitude as an important factor in attracting investment interest.
According to the Chairman of the Central Board of Real Estate Indonesia (Ketum DPP REI) Joko Suranto, REI as an organisation comprising entrepreneurs will always seek out business opportunities and potential areas for development.
“REI is the world of entrepreneurs. REI will always look for which regions, what potentials, even which businesses can be developed,” Joko said after the planting of a million trees in KBN, Lampung, on Thursday (7/5/2026).
According to him, the investment offer from the Lampung Provincial Government is considered attractive, particularly due to the support and openness of the local government towards the business world.
Joko assessed that a mutually supportive relationship between the government and business actors is an important condition in building investment cooperation.
In addition, he admitted to only recently learning that Lampung’s economic growth ranks third in Sumatra.
This condition is seen as a major opportunity for business and property development in the region.
“It turns out Lampung is number three in growth in Sumatra. That means it’s an opportunity, and in terms of distance, it’s like the lips of Java, so the opportunities are indeed very large,” he said.
Nevertheless, Joko emphasised that developers will not rush into making investment decisions.
According to Joko, every investment plan must go through various stages of analysis and risk mitigation.
“We will certainly look, listen, verify, exercise, then calculate, and then there will definitely be more discussions,” he continued.
The man nicknamed “Crazy Rich Grobogan” explained that every investment decision at least considers various aspects such as policy risks, market, legal, and environmental conditions.
Regarding sectors with potential for development in Lampung, Joko stated that REI is open to various business fields as long as they have a clear market and are supported by government policies.
However, according to Joko, REI still needs to study further the infrastructure conditions and various potential issues in the area before taking investment steps.
For example, there is information about flood points in some areas that need to be investigated further so that area development can be carried out in a measured manner.
“Yesterday we had a small question from the mayor that there is flooding, we will find out where that is. Don’t let us not see the potential problems from the upstream,” he concluded.
