Crashed aircraft belongs to Asindo
JAKARTA (JP): A training aircraft crashed on Friday at the Halim Perdanakusumah Air Force base in East Jakarta, claiming the lives of the pilot, Chairul Hasrat, and his trainee pilot Nurcahyo Harinto.
The plane belonged to the Asindo flying school. The Antara news agency said on Saturday that earlier reports that the Bravo AS-202 belonged to the Air Force were incorrect.
Head of the Air Force Information Office, Commodore Atmadji, was quoted by Antara as saying that a team had been established to investigate the crash.
"The aircraft had been properly maintained," he said when asked if the crash was related to the aircraft's age.
Sources at the National Search and Rescue Agency said that Chairul was buried in Jakarta, while Nurcahyo was buried in Bandung.
Last month a police aircraft crashed in Bogor, resulting in the death of all six people on board. (sur)
