Crackdown on passport brokers

PADANG, West Sumatra: Chief of the local justice ministry
office Atjeng Zakaria promised yesterday to crack down on
passport brokers.

The brokers have been widely blamed for the arduous and
expensive process in the procurement of immigration documents.

"The public should report any irregularities in the
procurement of passport to us so that we can take action against
whoever is involved," he said as quoted by Antara.

He said the brokerage exists because many people want to
obtain their passports easily without having to go to the
immigration office. (pan)
