CPM reveals meeting with Poboya indigenous leaders in Jakarta
Palu (ANTARA) — PT Citra Palu Mineral (CPM), a subsidiary of PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (BRMS), has revealed that it held meetings with indigenous leaders from Poboya, Palu City, in Jakarta.
“The culmination was on the 19th to 21st, when we, together with Poboya indigenous representatives and community figures, held meetings in Jakarta and reached a four-point agreement that will be followed up,” said CPM President Director Damar Kusumato during a public hearing at the Central Sulawesi Provincial Legislature (DPRD) office in Palu on Monday.
He explained that the points of mutual understanding include CPM demonstrating its commitment to improving the welfare of communities surrounding the mine through a policy prioritising local workforce recruitment, as well as structured corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community development and empowerment (PPM) programmes.
Additionally, CPM has received a draft cooperation proposal submitted by the Poboya mining-area community (MLTP).
The Central Sulawesi DPRD had previously held two hearings on 2 and 3 February 2026. CPM did not attend those meetings and requested rescheduling.
At the third hearing, CPM fielded President Director Damar Kusumato, Senior Consultant H Sudarto, legal representative Louise S Ferdinandus, Chief Mine Technical Officer (KTT) Yan Adriansyah, mining division representative Arief B.P, and CSR division head Rahyunita.
The meeting discussed two key points: a request to reduce CPM’s contract of work (KK) area by 246 hectares and the designation of a Community Mining Zone (WPR).
An alternative option in the form of a partnership between the community and the company was also discussed, as a means of providing legal certainty for artisanal miners to carry out their activities lawfully and in an orderly manner.
CPM holds a contract of work covering five blocks in Central Sulawesi and South Sulawesi, totalling 85,180 hectares.
Block I in Poboya, Palu City, has held a production operation permit from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources since 2017. The production operation phase has been granted until 30 December 2050.
However, some time ago, the Forest Zone Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) sealed off the gold mining concession area belonging to CPM.
The sealing was due to the discovery of forest clearings within the CPM contract of work area. CPM acknowledged the existence of such clearings but stated they were not carried out by the company.
