Courting Japanese Investors, Prabowo Showcases Debottlenecking Task Force to Ease Business in Indonesia
President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Indonesian Government’s commitment to accelerating investment and national economic growth by slashing various bureaucratic barriers. He made this statement during a speech at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday (30/3).
In front of Japanese investors, Prabowo specifically praised the effectiveness of the Special Debottlenecking Task Force. This task force was established to provide quick solutions for entrepreneurs facing administrative obstacles or other business impediments on the ground.
“We have formed a special task force, which we call the Debottlenecking Task Force. Any company in Indonesia, active in Indonesia, whether foreign or domestic, that feels it is facing delays, administrative obstacles, or exploitation, can directly contact this Task Force,” said Prabowo.
He noted that the task force, led by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, has shown tangible results. Its main focus is to simplify overlapping regulations that are often deemed irrational by business actors.
“We have resolved many problems by directly addressing the core issues,” he revealed.
Prabowo even stated his readiness to personally receive complaints from entrepreneurs experiencing business obstacles.
“You can directly submit complaints to me through the ambassador, representative, or whatever means you prefer. I am willing to receive complaints,” Prabowo said.
Currently, the Debottlenecking Task Force is handling investment obstacles for the LNG Masela Block project, one of the largest upstream oil and gas investments operated by INPEX Corporation through its subsidiary INPEX Masela Ltd.
When leading the Debottlenecking session on 24 February 2026, Finance Minister Purbaya emphasised that the Government is committed to following up on complaints through the Debottlenecking channel quickly, in a coordinated, transparent, and accountable manner.
“This session is not only to resolve obstacles for the complainants, but more than that, to provide confidence and positive sentiment for the business world to strengthen a healthy business climate,” said Purbaya.
