Court drops charges in forgery case
JAKARTA (JP): The Supreme Court has decided to drop all
charges against Iskandar Indra, 37, director of PT Inti Bhakti
Multi Persada, in a case of forgery of land ownership documents
for a plot of land on Jl. Jendral Sudirman, South Jakarta.
The Supreme Court through its decision dated Dec. 23, 1994,
rejected an appeal filed by the South Jakarta district attorney's
office and declared that Iskandar is the lawful owner of a
10,285-square-meter plot of land he bought from H. Musa bin Toyib
in 1990.
The dispute began six months after the transaction in 1990,
when Abdul Azis, a nephew of Musa, claimed that he was the owner
of the land because he had bought it from his uncle.
His uncle denied that Abdul had bought the land. Musa then
filed a lawsuit against his nephew charging that Abdul forged the
documents for the land. In the meantime, Abdul charged that it
was Iskandar Indra who had falsified papers.
The Supreme Court has now ruled that those charges are
groundless and that Iskandar Indra is the owner of the property
in question.
The South Jakarta District Court has found Abdul guilty of
falsifying the land documents and sentenced him to seven months
imprisonment.
Iskandar plans to build an office building on the land. (yns)
