Court drops charges in forgery case<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Supreme Court has decided to drop all
\ncharges against Iskandar Indra, 37, director of PT Inti Bhakti
\nMulti Persada, in a case of forgery of land ownership documents
\nfor a plot of land on Jl. Jendral Sudirman, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court through its decision dated Dec. 23, 1994,
\nrejected an appeal filed by the South Jakarta district attorney's
\noffice and declared that Iskandar is the lawful owner of a
\n10,285-square-meter plot of land he bought from H. Musa bin Toyib
\nin 1990.<\/p>\n
The dispute began six months after the transaction in 1990,
\nwhen Abdul Azis, a nephew of Musa, claimed that he was the owner
\nof the land because he had bought it from his uncle.<\/p>\n
His uncle denied that Abdul had bought the land. Musa then
\nfiled a lawsuit against his nephew charging that Abdul forged the
\ndocuments for the land. In the meantime, Abdul charged that it
\nwas Iskandar Indra who had falsified papers.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court has now ruled that those charges are
\ngroundless and that Iskandar Indra is the owner of the property
\nin question.<\/p>\n
The South Jakarta District Court has found Abdul guilty of
\nfalsifying the land documents and sentenced him to seven months
\nimprisonment.<\/p>\n
