Courier held for fraud

JAKARTA (JP): The Menteng police precinct confirmed yesterday
that it has detained a courier of the trading company PT Pan
Inecda on suspicion of embezzling company funds.

The police chief, Capt. Zulkarnain, said that Miyana, an
executive of the company, has reported that the suspect, Misdi,
has embezzled Rp 46m million (US$ 20,000) belonging to the
company.

Miyana said that Misdi, 35, was ordered to transfer a giro
draft on Tuesday from Bank Niaga to Bank Dagang Nasional
Indonesia (BDNI).

But BDNI confirmed to the company that there is enough money
in the company's account in Bank Niaga, he said.

From the information, the company management concluded that
Misdi had defrauded the company of its money several times
before.

Zulkarnain said yesterday that Misdi had admitted to using the
money to buy a house on Jl. Saman Ciledug, South Jakarta.(04)
