The Jakarta city administration has announced an increase in the cost of identity cards and family registration cards. The price of Rp 1,000 for an ID is now up to Rp 3,000.

It is a public secret that the price list on the wall of a subdistrict (kelurahan) office serves a mere decorative function, because at the official's desk an ID costs more.

I do not object to an increase in price, but I would like to see conformity of price within the kelurahan office.

In order to eliminate the bribe to an official I suggest that the payment be made to DKI Bank at the kelurahan or (district) kecamatan office. The bank receipt could then be used to collect the document at the kelurahan office.
