A defendant in a corruption case involving the procurement of mukenah and sarongs in 2024 in West Lombok District, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Ahmad Zainuri, has surrendered state compensation funds totalling 608 million rupiah to the public prosecutor.

The funds were surrendered by the defendant through his legal adviser Edy Rahman before the panel of judges during a witness examination hearing at the Corruption Crime Court at Mataram District Court on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Edy Rahman stated that the surrender of state compensation funds represents the defendant’s cooperative attitude in the trial proceedings.

“As a gesture of cooperation in this case, during today’s witness examination hearing we are surrendering state compensation of 608 million rupiah before the panel of judges,” he said.

Edy explained that his team would prove that the allegations made by the prosecutor against his client regarding enjoyment of money from the procurement were unfounded.

He stressed that the funds received by Ahmad Zainuri were not corruption proceeds. The funds represented compensation for goods purchases his client made for a community development programme activity. “The money received was compensation for goods purchases made by our client. So it is not corruption proceeds,” he said.

Because the funds were subsequently linked to the ongoing case, the legal team chose to deposit them in the trial proceedings. “If it is not proven then this deposit will certainly be returned,” he said.

In this case, the prosecutor has audit results from the West Lombok Inspectorate calculating state financial losses (PKKN) of 1.7 billion rupiah.

The losses emerged from the distribution of ten procurement packages, each valued at 200 million rupiah. Distribution was carried out through the Social Empowerment Division of the West Lombok Social Services office in eight packages, with the remainder through the social rehabilitation division.

The alleged corruption is believed to have arisen from surveys of goods prices and the preparation of self-estimated prices (HPS). The allegation concerns inflated goods pricing with reference to the standardised unit price (SSH) standards of West Lombok for 2023.

The budget for the ten problematic procurement packages at the West Lombok Social Services office was found to originate from community development funds (pokir) from the West Lombok Regional Representative Council.
