Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned NIL, a staff member of the Bekasi Hajj Dorm, as a witness in the Hajj quota corruption case today, Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

“The questioning took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, with NIL as the witness, who is a staff member of the Bekasi Hajj Dorm,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

When asked whether NIL complied with the KPK investigators’ summons, Budi said the witness had attended.

“Yes, they attended,” he confirmed.

Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK announced that it had begun investigating the alleged corruption case involving the determination of Hajj quotas and the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2023-2024.

On 11 August 2025, the KPK announced that the initial estimate of state losses in the case amounted to more than IDR 1 trillion and that three people were prevented from travelling abroad for up to six months.

Those who were prevented from leaving the country were Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, and Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of the Maktour Hajj pilgrimage organiser.

On 9 January 2026, the KPK announced that two of the three people who were prevented from leaving the country had been named as suspects in the alleged Hajj quota corruption case, namely Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) and Ishfah Abidal Aziz (IAA).

However, Yaqut filed a pre-trial motion against the suspect designation at the South Jakarta District Court on 10 February 2026, which was registered under case number 19/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.

The initial hearing of the pre-trial motion was originally scheduled for 24 February 2026.

On 19 February 2026, the KPK announced an extension of the travel ban abroad, but only for Yaqut and Gus Alex. The ban on Fuad was not extended.

Then, on 24 February 2026, the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court stated that the hearing of Yaqut’s pre-trial motion had been postponed and rescheduled for 3 March 2026. The panel of judges explained that the postponement was carried out at the request of the KPK through a letter dated 19 February 2026. (Ant)
