JAKARTA — Investigators from the Corruption Commission (KPK) conducted marathon raids across Rejang Lebong district, Bengkulu province, from Friday 13 March to Sunday 15 March 2026.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the raids were conducted as part of an investigation into allegations of project bribery that ensnare Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.

“The locations subjected to raids included the Regent’s office and residence, the Public Works Office head’s office and residence, the Education Office, and homes of individuals and witnesses involved,” Budi stated in a written statement on Monday 16 March 2026.

“Additionally, from the Public Works Office head’s residence, investigators discovered and seized cash amounting to Rp 1 billion,” Budi said.

In this case, the KPK suspects that Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari received Rp 980 million in bribes from project fee demands made to contractor companies.

The money was received by Fikri from three partner companies that won project contracts at the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Areas (PUPR-PKP).

Fikri received the bribe money in stages through intermediaries.

First, on 26 February 2026, Edi Manggala from CV MU handed over Rp 330 million (3.4 per cent of the project value for pedestrian and drainage construction and sports centre totalling Rp 9.8 billion) through the Public Works Office Head, Hary Eko.

Second, on 6 March 2026, Irsyad Satria Budiman from PT SMS handed over Rp 400 million (13.3 per cent of the project value for road work valued at Rp 3 billion) through Santri Ghozali, a civil servant at the Public Works Office.

Third, on 6 March 2026, Youki Yusdiantoro from CV AA handed over Rp 250 million (2.3 per cent of the project value for construction and environmental management of the football stadium area valued at Rp 11 billion) through Rendy Novian, a civil servant at the Public Works Office.

During intensive investigations, the KPK also discovered allegations of other receipts by Fikri through Hary Eko from various parties using the method of requesting project fees from contractor companies, totalling Rp 775 million. This pattern suggests repeated misconduct.

The money received by Fikri from contractor companies was purportedly for Ramadan needs, including holiday allowances.
