Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that the report of the Police Reform Acceleration Commission to be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto runs to thousands of pages. As one of the commissioners, he revealed that at least there would be several reports to be conveyed, namely reports consisting of thousands of pages, one hundred pages, 16 pages, and three pages. ‘The three-page document is truly the conclusion, the 16-page document is a summary of the entire work, the results of the Police Reform Acceleration Commission,’ Yusril said in a video briefing confirmed in Jakarta, on Saturday. The various reports, he said, will all be handed to the President for examination, reading, and study. If the reports are handed to the President, he said the Police Reform Acceleration Commission will only then announce the contents of the recommendations or conclusions. ‘So for now we cannot say anything about what has been achieved, or what has been formulated by this Police Reform Acceleration Commission,’ he added. For more than three months, the Minister said the Commission has held plenary sessions several times, as well as full parliamentary sessions, both in Jakarta and elsewhere. It is stated that the last plenary session was held a few days ago in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta, which produced final conclusions on what the Commission had worked on. Yusril said all books and documents related to the recommendations to be handed to the President had been printed and bound. Chairman of the Police Reform Acceleration Commission Jimly Asshiddiqie, he said, has also sent a letter requesting the President’s acceptance of the Committee’s presence to enable an official handover of the Commission’s work results. He hopes the handover of the recommendations can be carried out before Lebaran in 2026. ‘When it is received, Mr Jimly as Chairman will announce the conclusions and suggestions presented to the President for follow-up and decision,’ the Coordinating Minister said. Earlier, the Police Reform Acceleration Commission revealed the police reform recommendations that have been drafted and will be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto shortly. Chairman Jimly Asshiddiqie, at a press briefing at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Friday (6/3) early morning, said that one of the recommendations is to revise internal regulations. ‘About eight Perpol (Policing Regulations) and 24 Perkap (Regulations of the Police Chief) that must be revised so that they can serve as a basis in conducting internal reforms on a long-term basis,’ he said. Jimly also revealed that issues related to the Police under the ministry will later be reported to President Prabowo.
