Facilities for the public, particularly holiday travellers, clearly need better preparation, said Djamari after inspecting facilities for holiday travellers at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, on Monday.

During his visit, Djamari directly observed various services provided for holiday travellers, including a children’s reading room and a massage services post for persons with disabilities.

The inspection was conducted as part of the government’s monitoring of facility readiness at the terminal during the Lebaran holiday travel season.

According to Djamari, the provision of child-friendly facilities and services for persons with disabilities is an important part of improving public service quality at transport hubs.

When visiting the children’s reading room, the Coordinating Minister observed several book collections made available for children of holiday travellers. The facility is used by families travelling with small children to pass the time whilst waiting for their bus departure. The facility is also intended to provide positive activities for children during their stay at the terminal.

“The presence of this children’s reading room is very helpful for families travelling for the holidays. Children can still engage in meaningful activities even while travelling,” explained Djamari.

In addition to the children’s reading room, the Coordinating Minister also visited a massage services post for persons with disabilities located in the terminal area. This post provides massage services for holiday travellers experiencing fatigue from long journeys.

He appreciated the existence of this service because, in addition to benefiting holiday travellers, the programme also represents a form of empowerment for persons with disabilities who possess massage skills.

According to him, inclusive services such as these need to be continuously developed across various terminals and other transport facilities. This is important so that all members of society, without exception, can experience comfortable and equitable services during their holiday travel.

He hopes that terminal managers and relevant agencies will continue to improve public service facilities so that holiday travellers feel safe and comfortable whilst at the terminal.

“It is impossible for good services not to be accompanied by responsibility from the public. That is what happens so that services continue to improve,” said Djamari.
