Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs reviews Balikpapan refinery to ensure BBM supply
Jakarta — Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago visited Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery (KPB) to ensure national energy resilience in anticipating the impact of the conflict in the Middle East, and to guarantee BBM supply ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. ‘My visit here is to assess how far the National Strategic Project (PSN) Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) Balikpapan operations have progressed as part of the backbone of national energy resilience,’ Djamari said during his visit to the refinery at KPB, in a press release from the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) received in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Djamari, the government is currently focused on maintaining BBM supply to anticipate shortages following the Middle East conflict. Consequently, he urged security forces, state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and local governments to keep safeguarding BBM supplies so that public needs are met. During the visit, Djamari also inspected several refinery facilities and met with regional government authorities, local security personnel, and PT KPB Director Bambang Harimurti. Bambang reported that to date, the RDMP PSN progress has reached more than 97 percent and production operations are running well to support national energy needs. Although BBM stocks are currently considered secure, Bambang assured that the company would continue to increase supplies to anticipate the impact of the Middle East conflict. Djamari also expressed hope that all anticipatory measures undertaken by PT KPB would maintain BBM availability for the public.
