Denpasar (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno has assessed that Nyepi, observed by the Hindu community, is relevant to be applied amid the current global conditions.

“I always and continue to reflect on how Nyepi is so relevant in a world full of noise; through Nyepi, we restore clarity, we organise our attention so as not to get lost in the hustle and bustle of a noisy world,” he said in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday.

Pratikno, at the peak of the 2026 National Dharma Santi, stated that during Nyepi, besides the human body stopping for a moment of silence, there are also the values of Catur Brata Penyepian that can be translated into daily life.

Starting with Amati Geni, which teaches humans not to easily get inflamed—in this case, by anger and hatred—by applying this rule, when emotions arise, humans are accustomed to pausing for a moment.

Then Amati Karya invites humans to reflect on their work, ensuring to avoid destructive work and focus on meaningful and humane work.

Amati Lelungan asks humans to take time not to travel but to sit quietly, visiting one’s own inner self or enjoying the home with family.

“If at the dining table, don’t look at your phone individually; nowadays many families gather physically but never communicate, therefore let us practise Amati Lelungan, sit together with the family, listen to the children,” said the Coordinating Minister.

The Coordinating Minister recounted how every day there are always reports of disasters or incidents affecting humans and nature.

The spirit of Nyepi can serve as reflection in efforts to prevent or handle them, thus requiring sensitive individuals who are not easily provoked, or loyal, as values that can be gleaned from Nyepi.

“Because justice does not arise from noise, but justice arises from clarity in seeing oneself as well as others, therefore let us build a more humane Indonesia, we must be able to restrain ourselves, think deeply, and act with compassion,” said Pratikno.

It is known that the 2026 National Dharma Santi, themed Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, Archipelago Harmony for an Advanced Indonesia, is the peak of the series of celebrations for the Holy Day of Nyepi Saka 1948.

In addition to the Coordinating Minister, attendees included the Head of BPIP RI, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa, and Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development Ratu Isyana Bagoes Oka.

The closing of the Holy Day of Nyepi series at the Taman Budaya Art Center was also attended by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster, General Chairman of the Daily Board of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Parisada (PHDI) Central Wisnu Bawa Tenaya, members of the DPR RI, DPD RI, Bali DPRD, as well as customary and religious figures.
