Coordinating Minister Airlangga predicts 5.5% economic growth in Q1 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister (Menko) for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto predicts that Indonesia’s economy will grow by 5.5% in the first quarter of 2026.
“Although still awaiting the release from BPS (Statistics Indonesia), we have predicted several times that growth in the first quarter is fundamentally quite good, and the figure is greater than or equal to 5.5%,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga during a press conference at the Office of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Jakarta, on Thursday.
Airlangga stated that several drivers of Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of this year include household consumption, the distribution of holiday allowances (THR), as well as accelerated government spending and stimulus, which he said amounted to Rp809 trillion.
“It is important for us to convey positive results, because we have now entered the second quarter, and in the second quarter we will certainly seek various things that can support growth again, including the payment of the 13th-month salary in June, and social safety net programmes are also running,” he explained.
Furthermore, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said that the investment sector is one of the boosters of the national economy this year.
In addition, the Task Force for Accelerating Government Programmes is being encouraged to support increased economic growth, based on Presidential Decree Number 4 of 2026.
“Debottlenecking efforts (are also being encouraged), so that investments that have entered can carry out business as planned,” he said.
Airlangga also highlighted the total investment realisation target set for this year at Rp2,041.3 trillion. He assessed that Indonesia’s investment climate must continue to be maintained so that this sector can contribute to national economic growth.
“Investment growth with a target of more than Rp2,000 trillion is not a small figure. This is a step that needs to be maintained together because it is a lever for our economy, as we want to achieve this year’s growth target of at least 5.4% even in a global situation full of uncertainties,” said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.
