Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said the import of 105,000 pickup trucks from India to Indonesia has been postponed until President Prabowo Subianto returns to the country. He noted, however, that the import falls outside his ministry’s authority.

“It was already decided yesterday — this is not under the Ministry of Cooperatives’ jurisdiction. So it has been decided to postpone it until the President arrives,” said Minister Ferry after speaking at the 99 Indonesian Sharia Economy Forum at Menara Bank Mega, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

He said the policy to import 105,000 pickup trucks from India for Koperasi Merah Putih (Red and White Cooperative) is awaiting a decision from President Prabowo Subianto. “We’re waiting for the President,” he said.

Previously, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad responded to the plan to import pickup trucks from India for Koperasi Merah Putih’s operations, which has attracted public scrutiny. Dasco urged the government to postpone the plan.

“Regarding the plan to import 105,000 pickup trucks from India, I have conveyed a message to the government that this plan should be deferred, considering the President is still abroad,” Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (23/2).

Dasco expressed hope that President Prabowo would discuss the details of the plan upon his return from his overseas working visit. He confirmed he had already asked the government to delay the import plan.

“The President will certainly discuss the details of this import when he returns. And he will naturally seek input and assess the readiness of domestic manufacturers,” said Dasco.

“Therefore, we have conveyed the message to postpone it for now,” added the Gerindra Party’s daily chairman, reaffirming his position.
