Convicted threatens prosecutor's life

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Sometimes being a prosecutor means having to tolerate threats after being successful at obtaining a conviction.

That was the case for prosecutor Azis Rasaan who was openly threatened by Eko Sudarto after he was convicted of murder and sentenced to two years in jail.

"Remember and be careful, after my term is over I will take revenge on you," he said to the prosecutor right after the judge read out his sentence at the Medan District Court on Thursday.

Azis brushed off the threat and refused to talk about it.

Eko Sudarto, 35, was convicted for the murder of Dwi Arianto in a hotel room.

According to Eko, he was innocent of the charge and said the prosecutor had coerced him into signing a confession. (04)
