Consumer Confidence Index Rises to 123 in April

A Bank Indonesia (BI) survey reports that the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) for April 2026 stood at 123.9. This position saw a slight increase compared to the previous month, which was at 122.9.

“The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey for April 2026 indicates that consumer confidence in the economic conditions remains maintained,” said Executive Director of the BI Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, in a press release on Monday, 11 May 2026.

Denny stated that the maintained consumer confidence in April 2026 was primarily supported by an increase in the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE), recorded at 116.5. This position was higher than the previous month’s index of 115.4.

The rise in IKE was supported by increases in the Job Availability Index (IKLK) and the Durable Goods Purchase Index (IPDG), recorded at 108.8 and 112.6 respectively, higher than the previous month’s figures of 107.8 and 109.2. Meanwhile, the Current Income Index (IPSI) was recorded at 128.1, lower than the previous month’s 129.2.

On the other hand, the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) was recorded to have decreased to 129.6 from the previous month’s position of 130.4. All components within the IEK were recorded to have decreased in April. The Income Expectations Index fell to 136.9 from 137.7 in the previous month. The Job Availability Expectations Index decreased to 127.7 from 128.0 in the previous month. Meanwhile, the Business Activity Expectations Index dropped to 124.1 from 125.5 in the previous month.

Consumer expectations regarding business activity developments varied across all expenditure groups, with the highest index at 129.2 for the Rp 4.1-5 million expenditure group. For the Rp 1-2 million expenditure group, business activity expectations fell to 112.3 from 114.6 in the previous month. For the Rp 2.1-3 million group, expectations rose to 119.0 from 113.9. Meanwhile, for the Rp 4.1-5 million group, expectations decreased from 125.4 to 118.4.
