Irwandi said the coastal area of Kandang, west of Sumatra island, has a wind speed of 2 to 4 meters per second, which had attracted the interest of South Korean investors and Indonesian businessmen in building the 10 MW PLTB.
South Korean investors Kim Jong Tae, Go Young Min, Song Jae Sung, and Baek Gwang Hyun, and Indonesian businessman Marlis Pohan will build 200 wind turbine towers in 75 hectares of land.
The construction of the wind turbines which produce electricity need a wind speed of only 1.6 to 3 meters per second.
