Construction noise

Construction noise

Thank you very much, Mr. Sam Suhaedi, for your good advice
(The Jakarta Post, Oct. 23, 1995) on the problem of noise
pollution, which I explained in my letter published in The
Jakarta Post on Oct. 18, 1995.

As suggested by Pak Sam, I talked to the RT (neighborhood
community) Chief and the Lurah (Village Chief) too, and on their
recommendation I presented an official letter of complaint to the
RT, which was signed by 20 people who share with me the problem
of noise disturbance.

Conditions have indeed improved, although the occasional truck
still enters the construction site in the middle of the night to
unload supplies. The Lurah is referring back to the RT, who in
turn is blaming Hansip (the civil defense organization). But we
can live with the present condition for a while.

We have also requested the Lurah and his staff to ask the
contractor to stop working on Sundays or at least to run without
the machinery. So far without success! I would appreciate further
advice from Pak Sam on this.
