Bali’s Department of Transportation (Dishub) has mapped a number of road segments that are potentially prone to congestion during the Lebaran Idul Fitri 2026 exodus, which is near Nyepi. According to I Kadek Mudarta of Bali’s Department of Transportation, congestion is expected on the main routes connecting the southern region of Bali with the ferry port and up to the airport area. ‘Several points have already been identified as locations with potential density during the mudik period. This mapping is to facilitate traffic management and the deployment of officers,’ Mudarta told detikBali on Thursday (5 March 2026). The points estimated to be prone to congestion are: - Denpasar - Gilimanuk corridor - Access to Gilimanuk Port - Nusa Dua - Denpasar corridor - The area around I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport To facilitate the dispersal of vehicle density during mudik 2026, Bali’s Dishub is engaging a number of agencies. These include the police, district/city Dishub, the Balai Pengelolaan Transportasi Darat (BPTD), airport authorities, as well as KSOP along with port operators. The joint personnel will be stationed at several entry/exit points of transport by land, sea, and air, including Gilimanuk Port and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. ‘The number of personnel that will be involved in the coordination is still being coordinated,’ he said. ‘These vulnerable points are expected to serve as a reference for traffic management so that faster action can be taken if congestion occurs,’ Mudarta said.
