Complete! Iran's President's Scathing Message to US Citizens
Amid the escalating Middle East conflict, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has taken an unusual approach by directly addressing the American public. Through an open letter, he poses sharp questions about the direction of the war, which he believes could ultimately harm the US populace itself.
Pezeshkian urges US citizens to view the conflict more clearly, beyond what he describes as distorted narratives. He also references the “America First” slogan of President Donald Trump, which he claims is not reflected in current policies.
“Precisely which interests of the American people are truly served by this war? Does the slaughter of innocent children, the destruction of cancer treatment pharmaceutical facilities, or the pride in bombing a country ‘back to the Stone Age’ serve any purpose other than damaging the global reputation of the United States?” Pezeshkian wrote, as broadcast by Iran’s state broadcaster PressTV, quoted on Saturday (4/4/2026).
He also vehemently rejects the notion that Iran poses a global threat. Pezeshkian states that his country has instead been attacked while engaged in multilateral nuclear talks, including during the 12-day war in June 2025 and the most recent attacks at the end of February 2026.
According to him, the strikes on Iran’s vital infrastructure—from energy facilities to industries—directly target civilians. He describes these actions as war crimes with far-reaching impacts, extending beyond Iran’s borders.
Furthermore, Pezeshkian warns that escalating the conflict will only worsen global instability and increase economic costs. He views the attack strategy as indicative of a failure to achieve long-term solutions.
“Such actions produce instability, increase human and economic costs, and perpetuate a cycle of tension, sowing seeds of resentment that will last for years. This is not a demonstration of strength; it is a sign of strategic confusion and inability to achieve a sustainable solution,” he emphasised.
This letter emerges shortly after Trump issued new threats against Tehran via social media. He stated that the US would continue bombing Iran until it is “back to the Stone Age” if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened. Trump also claimed that Iran had requested a ceasefire, but this was denied by Tehran officials.
Al Jazeera media reported that the two countries are currently engaged in intense narrative warfare. Iran asserts its position as the attacked party, while the US attempts to maintain a narrative of victory.
In his letter, Pezeshkian also questions Israel’s role in the conflict. He accuses Washington of acting as a proxy for its ally in launching aggression against Iran since 28 February.
“Is it not also true that America has entered this aggression as a proxy for Israel, influenced and manipulated by that regime?” he asked.
He even claims that Israel is seeking to divert global attention from the Palestinian crisis by building a narrative of the Iranian threat, while exploiting US resources for one-sided interests.
“Is it not clear that Israel now aims to fight Iran to the last American soldier and the last American taxpayer dollar, diverting the burden of its delusions to Iran, the region, and the United States itself in pursuit of illegitimate interests?” the letter states.
