Commission XI: CSR dikes for Pokdakan to realise food security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mukhamad Misbakhun, said the construction of dikes for the Kelompok Pembudi Daya Ikan or Pokdakan through corporate social responsibility programmes by two state banks would realise food security through fisheries. In a statement from Jakarta on Sunday Misbakhun said the CSR dikes built by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Mandiri were in line with President Prabowo Subinato’s commitment to realising national food security. ‘The Prabowo Subianto administration is determined to realise food security. The CSR in the form of dikes is one of the measures to realise food security through fisheries,’ Misbakhun said. The politician representing Pasuruan, East Java, district, directly toured the CSR dike programme in Kepel Village, Bugul Kidul District, Pasuruan City, which was linked to Ramadhan safari activities. The 1,600-metre CSR dike by BRI was constructed over 60 days, for use by Pokdakan Makmur Bersama. Meanwhile, the CSR dike built by Bank Mandiri measures 1,500 metres. Beneficiaries Pokdakan Maju Sejahtera in Kepel completed the works over 45 days. Misbakhun hoped the construction and strengthening of the dikes would protect the ponds of pond-reared fish farmers from flash floods. ‘May the dikes assist the fish farmers in aquaculture, so that the economy from fisheries continues to move,’ he added. As part of the Ramadan Safari in Pasuruan Regency, the programme also included dialogues and gathering of aspirations. On that occasion, the economist by training explained the fluctuations in the economy and geopolitics that have recently affected global energy stability. Misbakhun stressed that the government has taken anticipatory steps to ensure national energy supplies remain guaranteed amid conflicts in the Middle East. ‘The government continues to ensure that domestic energy supplies, both fuels and electricity, are maintained so that the public does not need to worry amid evolving global dynamics,’ he said. He also outlined the efforts of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to maintain stability of the national energy supply, which demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to ensuring energy security for the public. ‘Minister Bahlil has stated that the government is prepared to face various possible global circumstances to safeguard the national energy supply,’ he said. The former Treasury Ministry official stressed that maintaining energy and economic stability is an important part of the government’s efforts to protect the public’s interests amid ongoing global challenges.
