Nurdin Halid, the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian DPR’s Commission VI, urged state-owned enterprises (BUMN) active in the energy and transport sectors to prepare fuel supplies as well as public transportation ahead of the Eid al-Fitr mudik in 2026.

‘It is important to ensure the availability of fuel oil (BBM) at all petrol stations in the run-up to the Eid al-Fitr mudik in 2025,’ said Nurdin in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

He voiced the call during a working visit by the Commission VI of the DPR RI to Makassar, South Sulawesi, with several strategic BUMN partners.

During the meeting, various stakeholders discussed anticipatory steps to ensure readiness of the energy and transport sectors to cope with the surge in travel activity during the mudik season.

Nurdin said energy supply readiness is a crucial factor in supporting smooth mobility for the public, which is expected to rise significantly during the Idul Fitri holiday period in 2026.

He noted that increases in vehicle mobility during the mudik exodus are almost always followed by a surge in BBM consumption in various regions, especially on major land routes.

Therefore, Nurdin asked Pertamina (Persero) to strengthen distribution and maintain BBM supply stability at petrol stations.

‘Strengthen distribution and maintain BBM supply stability at petrol stations so that the public does not experience difficulties obtaining fuel during their journey,’ he added.

Beyond ensuring energy availability, the Commission VI working visit also highlighted the readiness of the national transport sector under the coordination of BUMN.

Transport operators such as PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) are expected to enhance service readiness, from fleet availability to passenger service quality.

Nurdin stressed that solid coordination between the government, BUMN, and regional governments is key to maintaining smooth national mudik flows in 2026.

He noted that the readiness of energy and transport infrastructure is not only about operations but also part of the state’s responsibility to provide safe, comfortable, and reliable public services for people travelling to their hometowns.
