Commission III of the DPR is holding a public opinion meeting (RDPU) as well as a working meeting (raker) related to the Amsal Christy Sitepu case concerning corruption in the production of village profile videos, for which he has been acquitted. The meeting will feature Danke Rajagukguk, Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office.

Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated that the meeting also invites Amsal Sitepu himself, along with the Prosecutorial Commission (Komjak).

“Commission III of the DPR will hold an RDPU as well as a raker with the Karo Prosecutor, the Prosecutorial Commission, and Mr Amsal Sitepu on Thursday, 2 April 2026, at 13:00 WIB,” said Habiburokhman to reporters on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Habiburokhman mentioned that his side will seek clarity on the sequence of events in the Amsal Sitepu case from the beginning.

“This meeting is being held to request explanations in the Amsal Sitepu case, starting from the reasons for designating him as a suspect, allegations of intimidation, up to the building of misleading public opinions related to the suspension of detention,” he said.

Amsal Acquitted

Previously, the Medan District Court judges declared Amsal Christy Sitepu not guilty in the corruption case involving the production of village profile videos in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Amsal was thus acquitted.

“Declaring the Defendant Amsal not proven guilty and acquitted,” said the panel of judges M Yusafrihardi Girsang when reading the verdict at the Medan District Court, as reported by detikSumut on Wednesday (1/4).

Amsal had previously been demanded a two-year prison sentence by the prosecutor. In addition, Amsal was demanded to pay a fine and restitution money.

“Demanding the imposition of a criminal sentence on the Defendant Amsal Sitepu, therefore, two years in prison,” said Public Prosecutor Wira Arizona at the Medan District Court on Friday (20/2).
