JAKARTA — The House of Representatives Commission III has endorsed the withdrawal of suspect status for social media personality Nabilah O’Brien in an alleged defamation case, following her official reconciliation with the complainant.

Habiburokhman, Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, stated that O’Brien does not meet the legal elements of unlawful conduct or the element of intent to defame or damage another person’s reputation.

“Commission III of the House of Representatives assesses that Nabilah O’Brien factually does not meet the element of unlawful conduct and the element of intent to defame or damage another person’s reputation,” said Habiburokhman whilst reading the conclusions of a public hearing with O’Brien at the House of Representatives building on Monday, 9 March 2026.

The Gerindra politician added that Commission III of the House of Representatives also supports the resolution of the Nabilah O’Brien case and her opposing party, Zendhy Kusuma, through restorative justice mechanisms.

“Support for case termination through restorative justice mechanisms that are not burdensome,” he stated.

Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Information Bureau, Polri Headquarters Communications Division, said the peace agreement was reached after the parties met and signed a peace agreement.

“Nabilah and his wife, as well as representatives from other parties and the district head, four parties attended and entered into a peace agreement. In this peace agreement, as we explained earlier, and through this process each party has withdrawn their reports with their respective complainants,” said Trunoyudo at Polri Headquarters on Sunday evening, 8 March 2026.

In addition to withdrawing the reports, the parties also agreed to delete social media content that was offensive to each other.

“Through the mediation proceedings, the withdrawal of reports, and in front of all of us, they each deleted their respective social media content, which indeed became part of the peace agreement,” Trunoyudo said.

“Looking ahead, this can provide a sense of justice, particularly as they realised this occurred during Ramadan, representing an act of worship full of blessings, brotherhood and mutual reflection, and each party has now withdrawn their report,” he added.

However, Trunoyudo did not give a definitive answer when asked whether the suspect status of Nabilah and Zendhy had been formally withdrawn.
