Commission III Emphasises Data Validation and Tax Compliance in West Java
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIAMIS – Commission III of the West Java Provincial DPRD has spotlighted the importance of validating taxpayer data and increasing public compliance in paying motor vehicle taxes to optimise regional revenue.
During a working visit to the Revenue Management Centre (P3D) of Ciamis District on Tuesday (5/5/2026), Commission III noted the dynamics of revenue potential in each P3D influenced by regional characteristics. Nevertheless, inter-agency synergy is deemed to be running well, as reflected in the collaboration between Jasa Raharja, the Police, and Samsat.
In terms of achievements, the realisation of the first Motor Vehicle Name Transfer Fee (BBNKB) I in the first quarter exceeded the target. However, the realisation of Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) up to early May 2026 has not yet met the target, thus becoming a shared concern.
Chairman of Commission III of the West Java DPRD, Jajang Rohana, stated that the vehicle tax amnesty programme has great potential to increase the taxpayer base. It is estimated that the programme could activate around three million new taxpayers in West Java.
“Validation of taxpayer data is crucial so that the payment reminder system runs effectively before the due date. In addition, education for the public is important so that tax payments become a priority, not just an obligation that is postponed,” said Jajang.
He added that taxpayers who have utilised the 2025 amnesty programme are expected to fulfil their obligations again in 2026.
Commission III also encourages improvements in the ease of tax payment services through various channels provided by the West Java Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda). This step is considered important to accommodate the public with limited time and high mobility.
According to Jajang, the approach to taxpayers needs to be precise, namely through awareness for those who deliberately do not pay, reminders for those who forget, and provision of facilities for the public facing obstacles.
“With these steps, it is hoped that the public’s compliance rate in paying motor vehicle taxes will continue to increase and have a positive impact on the optimisation of regional revenue in West Java,” he said.
