Commission I Leader Highlights Israel's Commitment Amid US-Iran Ceasefire
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Sukamta has highlighted Israel’s commitment in the temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States (US) and Iran.
This is because Israel has frequently violated ceasefire agreements, as occurred with Palestine and Lebanon.
“This is an important note for us that Israel often fails to commit to agreements that have been made. This is dangerous for the realisation of regional peace. The relevant parties, especially President Trump, must ensure that Israel restrains itself and complies with the ceasefire agreement,” Sukamta stated in a written remark on Thursday (9/4/2026).
He hopes that the ceasefire between the two countries develops into permanent peace.
The world, according to Sukamta, needs stability and no more aggression from one country to another.
“This ceasefire is a positive step, but it must be accompanied by commitments from all parties to restrain themselves and not use force, including in the form of economic and energy pressures that can harm the global community,” Sukamta said.
“We hope this ceasefire not only stops temporary escalation but becomes the initial step towards a fair and permanent solution, including independence for Palestine as a sovereign state,” Sukamta added.
It is known that the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran officially took effect from Wednesday (8/4/2026).
This agreement was mediated by Pakistan following a series of airstrikes, missile attacks, and threats that not only triggered military tensions but also disrupted global shipping routes and caused a surge in world energy prices.
