Commission A of the Yogyakarta Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPRD DIY) has emphasised the importance of safety during the outbound and return traffic flows for the Eid 1447 Hijra holiday in 2026. The “zero tolerance for accident” campaign was launched during a visit to the Prambanan Transit Post on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

Eko Suwanto, Head of Commission A of DPRD DIY, has called on all stakeholders to work together to reduce accident figures during the Eid holiday period.

“Drivers in particular must comply with traffic safety regulations, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and not overexert themselves. Maintain stamina and get sufficient rest to ensure safe travel,” Eko stated on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

During the visit, the Commission A delegation was accompanied by officials from the Yogyakarta Civil Service Police (Satpol PP DIY) and the Yogyakarta Transportation Department. They received briefings on traffic management during the Eid holiday travel period.

Arif Kurniawan, a member of Commission A of DPRD DIY, has expressed hope that the local government will provide maximum services, including access to healthcare for holiday travellers.

“We hope that public services are genuinely delivered so that holiday travellers reach their destinations safely,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Hifni Mohammad Nasikh, Deputy Head of Commission A, has emphasised the importance of clear signage, updated traffic information, and rapid response from officers at transit posts.

From a technical perspective, the Yogyakarta Transportation Department has implemented a toll road traffic management scheme. Didit Suranto, Head of Transport Infrastructure Development at the Transportation Department, explained that the Purwomartani toll gate has been designated for vehicles leaving Yogyakarta towards Central Java, whilst vehicles entering Yogyakarta are directed through the Prambanan toll exit.

On another front, Bagas Seno Aji, Head of Yogyakarta Civil Service Police, has confirmed readiness for security operations during the holiday period. The Satlinmas Rescue Istimewa (SRI) special rescue team has been positioned at eight strategic transit posts, including tourist areas such as Sermo Reservoir.

Officers have also intensified surveillance in the southern coastal areas. Education campaigns for tourists continue, including warnings about wave hazards and potential jellyfish stings.

“We want tourists to enjoy Yogyakarta peacefully. Prioritise safety and follow instructions from officers,” Bagas stated.
