Several bosses of American technology companies, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday (15/5/2026).

The meeting took place during US President Donald Trump’s visit to China. Trump introduced 17 US company leaders to Xi one by one during the agenda.

After the meeting, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the talks between the two national leaders went well. He also praised Xi and Trump.

Huang also described Xi and Trump as “extraordinary” figures.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk gave a brief comment to reporters. The Tesla and SpaceX boss said that “many good things” were happening.

As for Apple CEO Tim Cook, he did not comment much. Cook only gave a peace sign gesture and a thumbs up to the media crew.

The meeting between US tech executives and Xi took place amid ongoing tense relations between Washington and Beijing, particularly regarding trade tariffs, technology restrictions, and access to advanced chips in China.

During the meeting, Xi said China welcomes stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation with the US. He also stated that US companies still have broader prospects in China.

“China welcomes stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States, and believes that US companies will have broader prospects in China,” Xi said, according to the state news agency Xinhua.

“We have the best businesspeople in the world… and they are here today to show respect to you, to China,” Trump said to Xi, quoted by KompasTekno from China’s state news agency Xinhua.

The presence of Musk, Cook, and Huang drew attention because all three have significant interests in China.

Tesla has a large factory in Shanghai. Apple has long relied on China as one of its production bases as well as an important market for the iPhone. Meanwhile, Nvidia has been affected by restrictions on AI chip exports to China due to US-China technology tensions.

Huang is said to be using his visit to Beijing to revive talks on Nvidia H200 chip orders from China.
